Christchurch PBN Flight Paths Final Report Released
Report Confirms Performance Based Navigation Benefits Are Being Delivered
A 12-month PBN flight path trial for some arrivals into Christchurch Airport ended on 9 November 2018. The trial was delivered in conjunction with Airways New Zealand, Board of Airline Representatives New Zealand (BARNZ), and Christchurch Airport, as part of the New Southern Sky programme.
The new flight paths use satellite-based navigation to improve safety, reduce flight time, burn less fuel, emit less carbon dioxide and fly more quietly. Approximately a quarter of flights arriving into Christchurch were involved in the trial, which has been reviewed to inform a full and final report. Click on the image below to view the full report.
